Reordering Rule Audit
Check every reordering rule against what the product has actually consumed: which minimums will stock out over the lead time, and which maximums are hoarding cash
The video below shows Reordering Rule Audit running on a real Odoo 19 database. Want it driven against your own data, or a question answered first? Ask and we will set up a session.
A reordering rule is a guess made once and rarely revisited. Demand moves; the minimum does not. The stock-out that follows gets blamed on the supplier or on whoever placed the order - and the number that actually caused it, a minimum set two years ago for a product that now ships three times as fast, is never the thing anybody looks at.
This does not forecast. It compares every rule against demand that has already happened, which is a claim you can check.
What each rule holds, what the product needs while a replenishment is on its way, and the verdict.
What it does
Minimums that reorder too late
If the product consumes more during the lead time than the minimum holds, the rule fires too late however well it is followed. One button opens only those, and the findings name the furthest off.
Maximums that hoard cash
A top-up holding more than a quarter's worth of demand - 90 days of it - above the minimum is money in a rack, and it is valued at cost - sale price would overstate it on exactly the stock that is not moving.
It admits when it cannot judge
A default Odoo has no supplier delays, so many rules report a lead time of zero. Assuming one would make every minimum look sound - a report that agrees with everything. Those are marked unjudgeable instead, and if you want to see what a lead time would mean you can enter one; the lines that used it say so.
Hoarding is judged either way
Whether the maximum tops up far beyond demand does not need a lead time, so a missing setting never hides that finding.
Real demand, not movement
Measured from moves that actually left an internal location. Counting internal transfers would report a pallet shuffled between bays as consumed, and every minimum would then look too low. A product with no demand at all is reported as such rather than judged.
