1099 Threshold Check
Find which vendors and contractors you paid enough to need a Form 1099-NEC this year
The video below shows 1099 Threshold Check running on a real Odoo 19 database. Want it driven against your own data, or a question answered first? Ask and we will set up a session.
What it does
The number changed, and most people still have the old one
For payments made on or after 1 January 2026 the Form 1099-NEC threshold is $2,000. It had been $600 since 1954, so every spreadsheet, every checklist and most people's memory now say the wrong thing. From 2027 the IRS adjusts the figure for inflation every year.
This totals what you actually paid each vendor in a calendar year and tells you who crossed that year's line.
Twelve payees checked against the 2026 threshold: eight crossed it, four did not.
Paid, not billed
A 1099 reports what left your bank in the calendar year. A December bill settled in January belongs to the following year, so this counts posted vendor payments rather than vendor bills - totalling bills would put a chunk of your payees in the wrong year.
It will not guess a year
Because the figure is indexed to inflation from 2027, a year the app has not been given a threshold for produces an error, not a silent fallback to last year's number. A confident wrong answer about a filing obligation is worse than no answer.
What it does not do
Stated up front so nothing about the scope is a surprise after you install it.
