Journal Control
The video below shows Journal Control running on a real Odoo 19 database. Want it driven against your own data, or a question answered first? Ask and we will set up a session.
Journal Control bundles three real, persistent gaps in Odoo's own Accounting app: a configurable bank or gateway processing fee posted alongside any payment, a way to move money between your own bank and cash journals without Odoo's own removed internal-transfer UI, and a way to keep a sensitive journal out of the bookkeepers' view except for the users who should see it.
What it does
Payment Fee Surcharge
Set a fee amount and account on any payment; once posted, a separate journal entry records the fee automatically, in the same journal, on the same date. No native Odoo field does this - you'd otherwise book it by hand.
Internal Transfer
Pick a source and destination journal and an amount - one wizard creates and posts a linked pair of payments, cross-referenced the same way Odoo's own (now-removed) internal-transfer UI used to.
Journal User Restriction
Restrict a journal to specific users - a payroll or owner's-draw journal, say - without touching access groups. Leave it empty and nothing changes for anyone. The restriction applies to the Billing/Bookkeeper group; Accounting Administrators keep sight of every journal, deliberately, since somebody has to be able to see and undo the restriction itself. Read it as keeping a journal off the team's screens, not as a seal against your own finance lead.
Nothing hidden in the accounting
Every fee and every transfer is a real, visible journal entry or payment record - nothing is computed off-ledger or shown only in a report.
Who this is for
Bookkeepers and controllers who take card/gateway payments with real processing fees, move money between their own bank and cash accounts regularly, and want at least one journal (payroll, owner's draw) kept out of view for most of the team.
