Task Timer
A live start/stop stopwatch on tasks that logs real timesheet entries
The video below shows Task Timer running on a real Odoo 19 database. Want it driven against your own data, or a question answered first? Ask and we will set up a session.
Community's timesheets are manual duration-entry lines only - confirmed by grepping every model file in hr_timesheet, there is no start/stop/pause stopwatch anywhere. Adds one to the task form: Start begins a live-ticking clock, Stop writes a real account.analytic.line (task_id, employee_id, unit_amount in hours) - the same field Time Spent/Remaining/Progress are already computed from, so nothing downstream needs to change to pick it up.
Starting a new timer while one is already running automatically stops and logs the previous one first, so switching tasks never leaves a phantom timer behind.
What it does
One click, live clock
A single Start/Stop button on the task form, right next to the other stat buttons. While running it shows a live-ticking elapsed time, so you always know exactly how long you've been on a task.
Real timesheet entries, not a parallel tracker
Stopping the timer writes a genuine timesheet line under the task, the same model native Time Spent / Remaining / Progress already read from. Every report and view that already understands timesheets picks it up automatically.
Switch tasks safely
Starting a timer on a different task while one is already running stops and logs the previous one first - you never end up with two timers running, and you never lose time to a forgotten stopwatch.
One timer per user, guaranteed
A database-level constraint guarantees exactly one running timer per user at a time - even across two open tabs - so there's no double-counting to clean up later.
